Sumit S. Deole
About me
I currently work as a research and teaching fellow at the Department of Business Administration in Trier University (with Prof. Dr. Marc Oliver Rieger). Previously, I have worked as a research assistant at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich and TU Dortmund.
I have accumulated more than ten years of expertise in the utilization of causal inference methods for both research and teaching roles within academic settings. However, about a year ago, I shifted my focus to the private sector and worked as a Product Owner at Cognigy GmbH, a leader in the emerging Conversational AI industry as per the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Conversational AI Platforms. I was fortunate to work with a fantastic set of industry experts and ML researchers there. Currently, I am undertaking intensive skill-building exercises in the field of machine learning and deep learning.
I received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from VJTI, Mumbai (India), master's degrees in Economics from two reputed economics schools in France, e.g., Toulouse and Marseille. I moved to Germany for my doctoral education in Economics at the University of Halle-Wittenberg (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Wolf-Heimo Grieben. During my doctoral studies, I was introduced to the state-of-the-art data science methods of causal inference. The research subsequently conducted is now published in reputed economics journals and is widely cited (see Google Scholar).
